A leading source of original research and business insights, FourweekMBA.com (FMBA), billed as “The Leading Source Of Original Research and Insights on Business Model Strategy and Digital Business Models”, coined; “What if one of the other Bet’s will be the next hit in tech and business?”. And goes on to add, “Most of Google’s resources are skewed toward the core business model of Google; though, a small chunk is used to maintain the operations of Bets, that Google placed in several industries of the future.”.
Bets has demonstrated Google’s vision of the future, as it segments over the coming decade; foreshadowing, a ‘whole new business model under Alphabet, Inc.’, implied by FMBA.
Waymo began as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009. Waymo’s mission is and was to make it ‘safe and easy for people and things to get where they’re going’. The Waymo Driver, self-driving car project, can improve the world’s access to robotic mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost, through human error, in traffic crashes.
Waymo Driver has been put through the longest and toughest ongoing self-driving tests in the world; driving millions of miles on public roads and billions of miles in simulation. Waymo Driver, self-driving vehicles, have been tested across multiple U.S. locations; driving every day in different types of real-world conditions., Waymo Driver has learned to self-navigate through all sorts of real-world situations.
No one knows when autonomous driving will take off, nor how much revenue it will generate. Waymo Driver will probably take several years of carefully circumscribed operations to get underway in a greaer number of cities. Considering the prospects self-driving vehicles being generally adopted, as far in the future, that is anyone’s guess. Major hurdles regarding potential legislation and infrastructure, whether they be of local, regional, national, or international consideration, is yet to be broached; as well.
